This sculpture is inspired by a photograph. Of course it is impossible to emulate the picture in a bronze but if I close my eyes after seeing that picture many years ago this is what I see. Seconds from death, what choice did the primate have but to turn and try to frighten his adversary away? I am sure that his gallant effort was to no avail.
