MIOMBO MONARCH - 25 in Edition
I have an old friend from Rhodesia now living in Virginia who had a client who when he first saw the Sable it was lying down and so Terry Smit from Karoi asked me to sculpt this for him. So I created very quickly this observation of a sable bull lying down. The "Miombo" is the type of cathedral Brachistegia forest that these animals frequent. The Miombo is interspersed with open grass land and it is in these open plains where they feed and in the Miombo forest where they are enclined to lie up. Next time I will have him standing but for the moment he is lying down and this is a very common sight where they occur. This is one of the most beautiful creatures on the planet and I enjoyed making him like this.
