TANDALA NDOGO - 7 in Edition
This is the Swahili name for the Lesser Kudu. Easily the most illusive of the two sub-species of Kudu found in Africa. I have only ever seen the Lesser Kudu in Tanzania but they occur in all the semi deserts of Sub-Saharan Africa north of the Equator. I really enjoyed sculpting this special animal - he never stopped jumping out of cover as I let my imagination go free in the semi deserts of The Masai Steppe. This piece depicts a specimen seen under high hills around Landanai in the Simanjero district of Tanzania.
