WHIFF ON THE WIND - Limited Edition of 17  (NEW)
What is this animal? Not a dog, not a cat and for me this was the most difficult creature that I have sculpted. My good friend Gerry Ohrstrom asked me to sculpt this for Jack Horner and I accepted of course not knowing that I was in for a long tour of duty. I took clay to Tanzania in 2008 where I was going to be on hunt in the Selous Game Reserve with my good friend and long time hunting companion Michi Deckel and his lovely family of beautiful women. I started the sculpture in Tanzania and when Michi and Nigel Theisen said it looked like a dog I quit right there. We actually hunted one of these maligned beasts, but they outsmarted us and this is not the first time this happened to me. The Hyena when he is hunted becomes very cunning and if he occurs on private land he is all but impossible to hunt. So here he/she is for not only are they difficult to hunt they are damn near impossible to sex even if you shoot it and have a close look. Sculpted entirely in Montana and if you enjoy him, as much as he is difficult to sculpt then I am satisfied.
